Maria is the granddaughter of the president of L.M.E. and used to use her cute appearance to get people's sympathy. She did so before Kyoko's audition; however Kyoko recognized this, and called her out on it. While some people would be angry at Kyoko, Maria began to idolize her, and views her as an ultimate big sister. Maria also suffered from a huge guilt complex from her believing that she is the cause of her mother's death. (When she was five years old she called her mom to come see her because she wanted to celebrate her birthday with her mother, since she (and the father) rarely bothered to before. Unfortunately, the plane that her mother took to return crashed, killing her). As a result, Maria was unable to talk or even be around her father, since she thought that he hated her. It didn't help that her father worked far away and never came to see her and that he voiced out loud to Lory at the funeral how he wished that Maria didn't call her mother. He tried reaching out to her in his own way, but it wasn't enough. Kyoko managed to make Maria understand that her father didn't hate her now, or think that Maria caused her mother's death. Maria also loves to dabble with black magic (alongside Kyoko) and has a large crush on Ren Tsuruga. Comically in the Christmas Special chapter, Kyoko's present for Maria was a 1/2-scale doll of Ren with different expressions (this shocking everyone else on how detailed she was)
Maria is the grandaughter of Takarada Lory. After her mother's death in a plane crash when she was younger, she held a certain dislike to everyone who claims that her father loves her. She has a huge crush on Tsuruga Ren and looks up to him. She looks up to Mogami Kyoko as an older sibling, always seen to call her "onee-sama" everytime she spots the older girl.
Maria first met Kyoko when she came to LME auditions. It is said that she rarely laughed before she met Kyoko but when she became closer with Kyoko she became happier. She thinks that she and Kyoko have common auras that normal people don't have. She calls Kyoko onee-sama. On Maria's birthday she doesn't celebrate her birthday and has hated her birthday because its her mother's death anniversy on the same day, but Kyoko made her love her own birthday by arranging a thanking party for every person they are indebted to, that day she came to know how her father feels for blaming her and asks her to forgive him. For the most part she has not appeared since her birthday arc.
When Maria was young, her mother was always away on modeling or acting jobs, Maria knew of this, so she never asked much, but on her birthday, she was desperate to see her mother so she called her and asked her if she could come, her mother agreed and caught the earliest flight, but unfortunately, the plane crashed and it took the lives of everyone, including Maria's mother, since than, everyone blamed Maria, including her father, but no one said it directly to her, but instead, they gossiped about her, this made Maria become depressed and she swore never to trust an adult for as long as she lived, because they only deceived her, since than, she cut off her communication with her father which was also always overseas for his career.
'The Miraculous Language of Angels' seemed to have a plot similar to Maria's scarred past ( the only difference in the play was that everyone liked the little sister and told her that it wasn't her fault for the plane crash ) , due to this Maria tried to sabotage the play, she appeared in a pig costume, and wrecked havoc in LME's acting school, she hated the fact that even though the sister was the one who told her mother to come to visit, everyone still loved and forgave her ( opposite of Maria's ) , that was when the job was assigned to Mogami Kyoko to talk to Maria and tell her to stop, Kyoko than caught Maria while she was arguing with the actors of the school and told them that it was rather unusual that everyone loved the sister, this made the actors enraged and one of them challenged Kyoko by saying she had to act out the play, but the elder sister would hate the younger sister (who told her mother to come) , Maria tried to stop them knowing that Kyoko was only an amateur actor and she could never do such a task, but she was stopped by the director, who wanted the challenge to continue, Kyoko was panicking in the 10 minutes time that she had to practice, and than she just started scribbling and reading intensely, she than went out and acted, using the same lines at first, but with using hate as an expression, than she switched the sister's and her own lines and than went back to her lines, this caused quite an aura of confusion between everyone, but when the topic of 'emails' came, Maria stepped in and fought against Kyoko, saying that her father did love her, when Kyoko asked why, Maria said it was not her father's fault but it was rather her fault because she never replied to his messages and that he always tells her he loves her at the end of every email, Kyoko than smiles and says that Maria found her own answer to the question she had been seeking for many years, Kyoko and Maria than talk about what Maria will write to her dad when she returns home in the night, Maria asks Kyoko for advise but Kyoko gets embarrassed and says that her dad died, Maria get embarassed for asking and apologizes, the director than gets curious and says that unless Kyoko gets her mother's approval, she can't join LME, Kyoko than says that her mother never loved her and will only put her down, Kyoko than walks away and the director refrains about asking her anything else about her mother or her past.
Maria also gets angry when she finds out that the actors at LME's training school say that Kyoko still has to pay to enter the school and she says "Those three are no work and all talk!". After that Maria would write daily to her dad, being careful not to miss out even a single day, after the experience, Maria gains alot of trust to Kyoko and treats her as if she was her own sister.
