Ren Tsuruga (敦賀蓮 (つるが れん) Tsuruga Ren) is an actor working for the entertainment company LME. He is Japan's most desirable man.[2] Ren is very strong willed but could be childish and short-tempered when his real personality slips out. He is a people pleaser, and often hides his feelings with his "gentleman smile" which works most of the time.[3] He is tagged by many as the "Co-star killer" for his ability to somehow make his leading ladies truly fall in-love with him[4] and is also a model for a clothing line called R'Mandy.

Personality

Ren takes a very serious attitude toward his work, and does not act seriously with nor respect anyone who does not take pride in acting. Hence, he disliked Kyoko at first, as her motives for joining showbiz were "impure", as Kyoko herself puts it. Also, he cares about his "gentleman" image, so he does not retaliate in incidents such as Sho knocking over an ash tray in front of him, nor asks for help when he doesn't understand his lines (as he is not a native Japanese). He does let anyone near in times of studying the script.

Both Yashiro and Lory noted that most of his past relationship were Shallow. Lory points out that he never really fallen in love. Despite being in a relationship with a number of girls from a young age of twelve, he was shown to be completely oblivious of his growing feelings for Kyoko until his conversation with Bo, who ironically was Kyoko in a chicken costume.

Regarding Kyoko, Ren becomes increasingly possessive and dependent on her, fighting an invisible battle of will with Sho to take over the center stage in Kyoko's mind.

He is seen as childish at some point. He kissed Kyoko's cheek[5] because he was angry that she was only thinking of Sho. He also does not have a well-balanced diet and also skip meals in times of work, something that worries Kyoko deeply.

It is also shown that he acts indifferent and calm when extremely happy.

He also has a split personality that he calls "Dark Kuon". "Dark Kuon" controls his actions in a violent, disturbing, or dark manner, from which Kyoko is able to break him out of the trance with her voice or actions. Lory Takarada is aware of this side of Ren and warns Kyoko of it without directly telling her about it. Yashiro also knows nothing of this personality, though he suspects Ren had a past that is different to his current facade.

Background

The public knows nothing about Ren's past and background while only his family and Lory Takarada know about his real background. Ren is revealed to be Corn, a 10-year old boy Kyoko met when she was six years old.

Ren told Bo the Chicken that he used to get fired all the time when he was starting in showbiz. Ren also used to have plenty of girlfriends and started dating at the age of 12 but never truly loved them.[6]

In truth, Ren's real name is Kuon Hizuri. He was born to Kuu and Juliena Hizuri, both popular personas in showbiz. He was raised in America up to the age of 15. Kuon always lived in the shadows of his father's greatness, he tried to break into the show-biz world, only to suffer many rejections. Because of this, a darker side took over Kuon and he grew distant from his parents.

Flashbacks from his teenage years imply a violent past such as acting in gangs and getting into fights. It is also revealed that he smoked, but quit when he was seventeen. At the age of fifteen, Lory Takarada, the LME president, brought Kuon back to Japan, where he took up the stage name Ren Tsuruga and later became one of the top most popular actors in Japan.

Kuon has a Russian, American and Japanese mix heritage[7], which explains why he could speak Japanese, English and Russian fluently.

Appearance

Ren has a muscular build and is very tall, being 190 cm. He is described to have long legs that other top models desire.[8] He has a light skin tone with dark brown and brown eyes. Ren's athletic reflexes are excellent, much like his father's. He is talented in martial arts and is light as sparrow. When he stands, he radiates an aura of dignity.

Hair Color Dark Brown (Naturally Blonde)

Ren's facial expressions changes at unusual times. For example, when he is angry, rather than showing a frustrated face, he radiates his smile more instead, making it shinier. He also shows a blank expression when he is confused, rather than obviously showing it.[10]

To keep up with his "gentlemen" character as "Ren Tsuruga", he wears simple, but elegant clothes like a white tuxedo or a coat with polo matched with simple pants. When he wears pants, a notable feature is his long-legs, which various high-profile people admire.

On the contrast, As Kuon, he actually has natural green eyes, that changes momentarily to reddish brown when sunlight shines through them[11] and blonde hair which he got from his mother, Julie.
