Kyoko Mogami (trial role)

Flora was Kyoko's second (trial) role. Flora is the character in the play produced by LME, The Words of the Angel.

StorylineEdit

Flora has a younger sister (Angel), a father and a mother. Flora's mother passed away by giving birth to Angel, despite knowing the consequence[1]. Due to her mother's death, Angel carries a guilty conscious and believed that her father hated her. The father also bluntly expressed his remorse over his wife's death and for some time can't help but blame Angel despite knowing she is faultless[2]. Flora chastised him for his anger on a child who has no part in her mother's death[3]. Angel who was listening to their conversation confirmed that her father hated her[4]. While others tried to convince her that no parent would resent their child, Angel seems to be unmoved[4]. Until her sister, Flora convinced her otherwise. In the end the father realizes his mistake and begins to love Angel again[5].

CreationEdit

Due to Maria and Kyoko's disagreement[6] of the script's portrayal of the sister, the Acting Department challenged Kyoko to play it better[7].

This was also chosen as a test for Kyoko to enter the LME training center, one that is commonly done for an amateur to take the class.

CharacterizationEdit

PersonalityEdit

Original versionEdit

In the original version, Flora is supposed to be convincing her younger sister that their mother's death wasn't her fault at all and is very loving to her[8]. She was shown to be a kind, polite and loving sister[8].

Kyoko's versionEdit

In Kyoko's version, she was rather blunt and also blames her younger sister for their mother's death. Kyoko's version of Flora comes with a twist, as her character was able to convince her younger sister, Angel, that it wasn't her fault and did so by using Angel's lines, forcing Angel to use Flora's.

AppearanceEdit

Flora's exact appearance was not revealed, as the training members were rehearsing the play before the actual shoot. When Kyoko acted as Flora, she was wearing her Love Me jump suit.

Behind the scenesEdit

After accepting the challenge of the acting group of LME, Kyoko was told to act the role of Flora but with the interpretation that Flora does blame her sister for her mother's death however she has to reach the same conclusion which is convincing Angel that she isn't hated by their father[9]. The scene that Kyoko acted from was the scene where Flora help Angel understand that their father doesn't hate her(Angel) for their mother's death. By changing a few of the lines[10] and tones of delivery[10], and also flipping the lines of Flora and Angel[11], Kyoko is able to accurately portray Flora's hatred towards Angel but also convince her that she is not hated by their father.

Kyoko continued her role, even when the Angel role was suddenly taken by Maria who had the same problem as the role, Angel[12]. Kyoko was able to help Maria realize that her father doesn't truly hate her but that he just doesn't know her well enough to know how to treat her[12].

ReceptionEdit

Many were baffled by her portrayal of Flora which deviated from the script. Many trainees told Kyoko that she really worked hard for an amateur but refused to acknowledge it, as the Angel role was switched half way to Maria who is the President's granddaughter[13].

While Lory, Kanae and Maria felt her portrayal was excellent. Maria even felt that the other trainees were jealous of Kyoko's performance. Lory predicts that she may surpass his own expectation.

When Kanae hears that Kyoko planned the whole thing from the beginning she realizes she misjudged Kyoko's acting ability and is immediately wary of her. It marks the point where she begins to see Kyoko as a true rival[14].
