Cain Heel is a British-Japanese actor who played the death god, BJ in the movie Tragic Marker[1]. Cain Heel is portrayed by Ren Tsuruga, but only a few people know this. Things don't interest Cain except acting and his younger sister, Setsuka Heel.

CreationEdit

Initially, Ren Tsuruga auditioned for the role of B.J. in Tragic Marker[2]. He had to show that he could smoke and shoot a gun properly[2]. Director Konoe thought he was the perfect actor to play B.J. But, to add a twist, Konoe came up with the idea that a mystery actor should play B.J. in order to hide his identity as Ren Tsuruga, even from the cast and crew.

Konoe wanted to add another layer of intrigue to the movie, and have the public asking. This meant Ren's name wouldn't be on the credits list either. Yashiro was not pleased about this but understood why Ren might prefer this unique job.

Konoe was the one who created Actor X/Cain Heel's character and he finds it exciting and interesting seeing his creation come to life, in a way that's much better than even he could have imagined[3]. Some adaptations were that Cain was of Japanese descent not just English so that it wouldn't interfere with his work. Konoe presumes like Murasame that Cain can't speak Japanese based on Setsuka and wonders when this set-up[3]. However he understands that it makes it twice as hard to get close to Cain thus very unlikely his true identity will be revealed[3].

To add more spice, Lory Takarada added Kyoko Mogami into the mix, making her play Cain's clingy sister, Setsuka Heel[4].

Violence Mission arc Edit

Ren spends some time perfecting his Cain Heel before appearing at the Tragic Marker set. Lory sets up a test for him to see if he can fool someone he knows[5][6]. He sends Kyoko on her "Something Dangerous" Love Me Mission to pick up Cain Heel in order to see if Ren could stay in character[7][8].

Lory then asks Kyoko to be Ren's protective charm, for he would feel more at ease if Ren had someone he knew beside him since Yashiro can't be. Therefore the role of Setsuka Heel is created and the Heel Siblings are born[4]. Kyoko thinks that this really is just about being his manager and to monitor his eating habits[4]. Ren dismisses this, saying he is perfectly capable of eating even if he is alone[4]. This only further worries Kyoko as Cain Heel is a man that cares even less about his health than Ren thus making her more determined to look after him[9].

Ren and Kyoko are stay in a hotel together to perfect each of their characters and their relationship which is supposed to be super clingy. The conservative Kyoko is having a hard time adjusting to Setsu's character whose profile will require her to sleep in the same bed as her precious Brother[10]. Ren is in a world of torment, believing the president is testing his self-control, that he may have to sleep in the same bed as Kyoko and the revealing clothes Kyoko is wearing[10].

Ren rushes Kyoko to the shops to buy pants where they both spend time working on their characters. Kyoko learns to act spoilt, like Setsu would with her brother but she thinks her acting is shallow compared to Ren's[11]. Ren's Cain makes her feel guilty with his puppy dog eyes but then she is overwhelmed by his cuteness[11].

Some punks hit on Kyoko, changing the direction of the rehearsal[12]. Ren moves to take her away and this aggravates the punks who start throwing punches. Ren does a good job of dodging them and Kyoko's newly formed Setsuka spirit has left the building, replaced by terror for Ren will be in a lot of trouble if he hits someone[12]. Kyoko defends Ren when a guy goes to attack him from behind with a baton[12]. When he throws her off roughly with Ren looking on, all hell breaks loose for Kuon is unleashed[13]. Kyoko manages to pierce through the darkness clouding Ren's mind with her voice[13].

The protective level at which Setsu needs to be there for her brother is now evident. She has to indulge her brother when he gets violent toward others but she also needs to be there to make sure that inside Cain doesn't escalate into something—or someone—else.

When in their hotel bathroom Ren darkly recalls the fight and his loss of reasoning. He grips his watch tightly while falling to his knees as he does, obviously scared. Both Kyoko and Ren receive a bit of curve ball in their Heel Siblings acting rehearsal when Kyoko busts in on Ren in the shower worried that he might have fallen asleep in the bath[14]. Both quick on their feet, Ren wonders if she's going to join him and Kyoko only smiles wishing she could but she has dinner to finish[14].

Dark Breath arc Edit

The obsessiveness that they have for each other reaches a peak when Setsu's phone rings with an unknown number[15]. Cain throws her onto the bed and threatens her, but Setsu takes over and turns the tables on him[16]. She accuses him of pointless jealousy and engages in some flirtation and escalated skinship that includes giving him a hickey[17][18]. She requires instruction, however, since she's new at that sort of thing. When Cain offers to show her on her own skin how to do it correctly her own jealousy makes her refuse him and threaten to leave and go find someone to bring her up to the same level of experience as her brother apparently has with other girls[18]. Cain won't let her leave, even after she admits to only bluffing.

The next day, they skip work to go on a relationship-affirming date throughout the city[19]. Cain is tamed enough after all this that Setsu is free to hide from the sun in their hotel room without having to chaperone him on the set

CharacterizationEdit

StorylineEdit

Nothing much is known about his background except being a famous actor from England and having his younger sister, Setsuka Heel.

PersonalityEdit

Cain is portrayed as a loving brother, having a sister complex and have the tendency to spoil his sister a lot. He gets extremely jealous when someone interacts with his sister, proving that he is very protective of her[12][20]. Most people such as his co-worker in Tragic Marker, Taira Murasame mistake him and her sister as a couple rather than siblings due to their behavior towards each other[21].

He is not very health conscious. Usually eating whatever is convenient such as takeaway. Sometimes not bothering at all for "Booze is my meal, cigarettes are my snack"[22] is the sort attitude Cain has toward health.

AppearanceEdit

He has a dark blue-colored hair with dark blue eyes. He is very tall, being 6 feet tall[23].

Relationships Edit

Setsuka Heel Edit

Cain and his younger sister have a co-dependent obsessive relationship[24]. There's mutual devotion and attraction that can threaten to spiral out of control, but a level of mystery needs to be always preserved. The sight of the two of them together would lead people to conclude that they are a couple, but those who know them to be siblings find the relationship unhealthy and off-putting[25].

Taira Murasame Edit

Cain sees Murasame as a minor irritant, one that won't go away. He enjoys toying with Murasame[26] and deliberately making him mad by saying his brain is like emmental cheese[27]. However he does get annoyed and angry when Murasame pays too much attention to his sister, Setsuka. Cain may feel some reluctant respect for Murasame for, out of all the staff, he is the only one who tries to confront him and continues to do so despite being attacked and threatened[26].

Konoe Edit

Cain rarely interacts with people other than his sister unless absolutely necessary and when this is the case it's just a yes or no answer[28]. Although he is aware of Konoe and his position in relation to the movie he still is quite taciturn to him[29].

Manaka Edit

Ren makes a mistake during his act as Cain and accidentally reveals his angelic smile to Manaka who, like many poor co-stars before her, falls victim to its powerful force and fell in love with Cain. As Cain he tries to play it down as being friendly to animals (Manaka) when Setsuka gets jealous. He is quickly annoyed with Manaka because she makes a pest of herself over him but he is more concerned about Setsuka and her feelings regarding this.
