Black or White is the 125th chapter of the Skip Beat! manga series.
In a conversation between Kyoko, the director, and a production assistant, it is discovered that Kyoko's inability to blend with her costars in the group of four is because of how stiffly she stands. The director thought it was because she was still channeling Mio, but it's actually Kyoko's natural way of standing due to her upbringing at Sho's family inn. Since it will take a bit for Kyoko to relearn how to stand casually, the director decides to shoot the classroom scenes that don't involve Natsu standing.
The other girls are even more upset to have to accommodate Kyoko, and feel she's being given more special treatment than even the drama's star. Kyoko overhears them complain that she didn't apologize to them for being late last time. She rushes over and apologizes, explaining that they left before she was done talking to the director, preventing her from doing it earlier. Honami and Yuka bully her with an old trick of pretending a large fly has come to pester them however Marumi is a little slow on the uptake. A staff member calls them over for they are ready at the next set. On the walk over, Chiori and Marumi reveal that Kyoko did manage to apologize to them as soon as she saw them however Yuka and Honami say they haven't received one yet. This is due to the fact that they deliberately avoided Kyoko so she couldn't apologize to them.
The same staff member notices that Kyoko hasn't made her way over to the set. He approaches her to remind her that he called her over before. Kyoko recalls the same exact fly prank being pulled on her in grade school and is unimpressed with a "secondhand put-down like that." She remembers darkly that it was originally said to her by a girl who was jealous of her closeness with Shotaro.
In the classroom, the director orders a retake because Natsu's smile when she decides to bully Chitose isn't enough Mio-like. Kyoko is confused and says that Natsu doesn't hate Chitose like Mio hated Mizuki. The director, already concerned about Kyoko's ability to play the part, gets angry and slams his rolled-up script against Kyoko's desk. An actress is supposed to do what the director says. Even if something is black, the actor has to act white if the director asks for white. Since she can't act like an ordinary girl, can she at least do the Mio acting she is capable of without the need for retakes?
Kyoko is shaken. The mean costars are spitefully amused. Realizing her precarious position Kyoko asks for another take.
