|Wake Me Up!|
|Character/s in the cover||Kyoko Mogami|
Wake Me Up! is the 123rd chapter of the Skip Beat! manga series.
In the Love Me locker room, Kyoko is fretting about being able to portray Natsu between literal dreams of blowing her costars away and talking to one of her Ren dolls. Ren and Yashiro come to pay her a visit and are nonplussed by her behavior, but luckily didn't see the doll.
Ren, however, knows its not the first time Kyoko has mimicked him to bully herself. He tells her he's saddened that she still thinks of him as "a pretty mean character," though they both inwardly think it was deserved back then. Kyoko corrects him to say that now she thinks of him as the one who always properly scolds her when she needs it.
In the hall, Yashiro runs into Matsushima while getting items out of a vending machine. He reveals that Ren is going to be playing dual roles, a mystery actor who plays the dark character BJ. Since the President is on board, their meeting got out early and they're taking a break. It's no coincidence that their break happened to line up with Kyoko's schedule, but Yashiro keeps that to himself. Instead he goes on to tell Matsushima that to keep Actor X mysterious, Ren's going to start filming a month later than the rest of the cast.
Kyoko reveals to Ren that in the bullying scenes Natsu is Mio, and in the non-bullying ones she's so ordinary she's boring. Ren, who's been looking over the script for Box "R" while Kyoko talked, gives it back to her and tells her to play Natsu just as she is. Additional advice before they part ways includes that acting is a continual cycle of discovery, review, and application; her answer is close to her.
At home that night Kyoko frets over Ren's words, accidentally slips into Kuon while remembering Kuu's coaching, and gets upset with herself for still being able to find Kuon so easily but not Natsu yet at all. Kyoko starts to compare Kuon's and Natsu's lives, and thinks how Kuon wouldn't find his life boring. Natsu is on an elite path, but she's bored with it, it's too ordinary for her. With that, Kyoko figures out that Natsu being an ordinary teenage girl is enough. Since Kyoko herself is a teenage girl she just needs to be herself, but think like Natsu. Kuu's words return: "What you need most is to know the joy of living in acting."
Kyoko thinks for a moment about what Natsu would do if she were the one in Kyoko's bedroom. Kyoko goes after the makeup.
