Princess Coup d'etat - The Bullying Princess is the 9th chapter of the Skip Beat! manga series.
Kyoko is sent to accompany pretty idol Ruriko Matsunai and her manager to the place where Ruriko will be filming the movie, Ring-Doh. Kyoko believes that Ruriko is some nice princess-like girl who needs to be protected. Consumed by her fantasies, Kyoko begs Ruriko's manager to let her take on the job. During the ride, however, the van breaks down and they are forced to walk for they are already late. Ruriko doesn't want to until she learns the Ren Tsuruga is waiting for her. Kyoko, carrying a big parasol, has a hard time accepting that Ren Tsuruga will be at the location too thus her steps become heavier.
After 5 minutes of walking, Ruriko complains that she is dead tired and pretends to be weak physically which plays right into Kyoko's fantasies. Due to this Kyoko ends up carrying Ruriko over her back which is pure hell and physical torture for Kyoko as she tries to climb the hill in the hot sun with the burden of Ruriko herself (45kg) and the super-large, extra-dense, umbrella.
Sometime later, Ruriko arrives alone at the production site and is very nice to everybody. One of the assistants there wonders why Ruriko arrived with that weird parasol and said “Where is her manager anyway?“ Ruriko is noncommittal, thinking back to Kyoko's mishap.
Poor Kyoko's foot sank into a pothole and she fell, not being able to move much as she strained her ankle. Ruriko calculated that the site must be just over the rise so she just continued on her own and told Kyoko she would send somebody. But of course Ruriko just happens to forget to mention Kyoko in her explanations about the car problems and her walk.
Sometime later Kyoko is still lying there, being fried by the sun, but she can't walk to the shadows because her ankle hurts a lot. Kyoko realizes that before while she was carrying Ruriko she had the feeling that she had to protect her and care for her, the same type of feeling she had for Sho.
But even though she tried to give love, Sho turned his back on her, just like her mom did before that. Since she was a kid, nobody bothered to look at her.
Ren interrupts Kyoko's thoughts. He wonders if she is resting, while Kyoko attempt to paddle herself away from him. Kyoko wonders if Ruriko sent him for her, but he denies it. He notices her hurt foot, so he takes her up in his arms and starts to carry her back whilst telling her to 'bear with it'.
Kyoko is shocked by Ren’s sudden action…
